LES COUROSSES

THE BUILDINGS - The house is constructed of traditional "Tuffeau" stone with a pitched red tile roof. Probably originally built in the late 18th or early 19th century. Les Courosses is a substantial building and would originally have been the principle building of a large farm. This is reflected in the massive scale of some materials used. The walls are up to 50 cm (2ft) thick; this keeps the house cool in summer and warm in winter. The main or king beams are 30 x 30 cm and over 7 metres in length. The downstairs is tiled with "Ancien Carrelage" ( old quarry tiles) & tiles and the superb oak beams are exposed throughout. Upstairs has wood flooring and where possible the beams have been left exposed.

There are two other building on the property, arranged in a half courtyard. The larger has a brick barn attached to it, ideal for keeping bikes etc. The smaller contains the pool equipment. Both (excluding the barn) are otherwise not in use.

SALON DE CHEMINEE - The magnificent main room is 6.3 x 6.8 metres (20 x 22 ft). "The Cheminee" is an open tuffeau fireplace about 2 metres wide. Stereo provided. Wine rack. Doors to the garden, dining room and the corridor leading to remaining ground floor accommodation

DINING ROOM/KITCHEN- this room is approximately 30ft x 9ft. There is a French style dining table. There is a door to the garden as well as the salon.

KITCHEN - Fully modernised with gas cooker & oven, microwave and fridge/freezer, dishwasher. Equipped with all the essentials.

BEDROOMS - in addition to the large double bedroom on the ground floor there are two twin and a double bedroom on the first floor.

BATHROOMS - a substantial one downstairs with bath, separate shower, W.C. and basin and the clothes washing machine. Smaller shower room upstairs includes W.C and basin.
